The 2025 Hearst Health Prize, a collaboration between Hearst Health and the UCLA Center for AI & SMART Health, invites submissions from teams leveraging data science to enhance healthcare. The winning initiative will receive a $100,000 award. Submissions are accepted online until February 14, 2025. Gregory Dorn, M.D., president of Hearst Health emphasized that the prize seeks data science projects that benefit patients while avoiding bias, driven by advancements in AI and machine learning. Arash Naeim, M.D., professor and co-director of the UCLA Center for AI & SMART Health, highlighted the prize’s role in enhancing healthcare research and investment. Entrants will be judged on criteria including health impact or outcome, data science approach, operational and financial sustainability, scalability and generalizability, mitigation of bias, and significance of problem and solution. The winner will be announced on May 28, 2025, at the UCLA Health Data Day Symposium in Los Angeles, promoting collaboration among healthcare innovators and experts.
