What leaders have to say about Zeeshan:
Zee is an exceptional therapist that is always going the extra mile for his clients. He is an asset to the Homecall Rockville team and is always willing to see an extra visit or try to fit in a new admission to make sure that new client gets the care they need. He is consistently getting praise from the patients he serves. In addition to helping and healing all the clients he treats, Zeeshan continues to be a valuable teammate to his fellow therapists and nurses. He is quick to lend a hand in navigating the complexities of Oasis documentation, and is eager to learn new functions in HCHB and apply them to his day to day, and also share them with his peers so that we can all provide the best possible care for our clients.
What does being a Gold Standard Award honoree mean to you?
This recognition is a huge honor. It validates my commitment to providing the best possible care for my patients at LHC group HomeCall Rockville, MD. For me, being an honoree means that the hard work, empathy, and dedication I pour into my job are seen and valued. It reflects my core belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. This award motivates me to continue upholding these values and pushing myself to be even better.
What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned from working in your field?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that every individual has a unique story and set of needs. Early in my career, I focused on standard procedures, but I quickly realized that true care goes beyond the basic tasks. The most impactful moments come from listening and adapting to each patient’s specific situation. I’ve learned that we’re not working with computers; we’re working with humans, and customizing care is paramount. At HomeCall, we strive to work together with each patient to improve their satisfaction and help them achieve their goals, whether that’s a simple improvement in mobility or a larger functional objective. This insight has taught me to always lead with empathy and a person-centered approach, ensuring I provide not just medical support but also companionship and respect.
What guidance or words of wisdom would you share with those who want to follow a similar path to yours?
“My advice for those who want to follow a similar path, especially in a home health setting, is to remember your “why.” The work can be physically and emotionally demanding, so it’s crucial to stay connected to the reason you started. Whether it’s a desire to help others, a passion for health, or a personal experience, that motivation will sustain you. Focus on building strong communication skills and emotional intelligence. The ability to listen, adapt, and connect with people from all walks of life is just as important as your technical skills. As a home health physical therapist, you are often on your own in the field, unlike other clinical settings where you have colleagues to lean on. This means it’s crucial to be a critical thinker and able to adapt on the fly, as things can and will go wrong. Stay curious, be open to learning from every single interaction, and always treat each person you meet with the same level of dignity and respect you would want for yourself or your loved ones.”
