What leaders have to say about Emily:

It is with great enthusiasm and admiration that I nominate Emily Campbell, Occupational Therapist at National Church Residences Home Health, for the prestigious Gold Standard Award. Emily exemplifies the highest standards of excellence in her field and has truly made a remarkable impact on the lives of the elderly clients she serves. Emily is the embodiment of calm, patience, kindness, and empathy. She consistently demonstrates a profound understanding of the human body and the intricate challenges faced by elderly individuals. Her approach to therapy is not just clinical but deeply personal, as she takes the time to learn about each client’s unique motivational factors and incorporates those into their treatment plans. This allows her to help her clients not only meet but exceed their therapy goals, even during some of the most difficult times of their lives. In addition to her exceptional work as an Occupational Therapist, Emily serves as the Therapy Liaison at a particularly challenging facility. Here, she helps residents of various senior living facilities navigate and maximize the health care continuum offered by National Church Residences. Through her tireless efforts, she has ensured that residents receive the full spectrum of care they deserve and are entitled to, fostering an environment where both the patients and their families feel heard, respected, and cared for. Emily has faced numerous obstacles, particularly in navigating complex dynamics with leadership at one of the campuses. Despite these challenges, she has maintained a level of professionalism and grace that is truly remarkable. She continues to treat everyone she interacts with—whether colleagues, leadership, or residents—with the utmost respect, empathy, and care. She helps train staff that work in the senior living facilities to ensure they provide the best and safest care to residents. Her ability to handle difficult situations with a steady hand and a compassionate heart sets her apart as a true leader within the organization. Emily’s dedication to improving the lives of elderly clients goes far beyond her professional responsibilities. She is deeply committed to helping each individual live their best life every day. Whether through therapy sessions or facilitating access to additional resources, Emily’s focus remains unwavering on the well-being of those she serves. In summary, Emily Campbell is a rare and invaluable asset to National Church Residences. Her unwavering compassion, unmatched professionalism, and exceptional skills as an Occupational Therapist make her more than deserving of the Gold Standard Award. She is a true champion for the elderly, and her dedication continues to inspire everyone around her.

What does being a Gold Standard Award honoree mean to you?

I am honored to be the recipient of the HCHB Gold Standard Award. Being recognized for my work as an occupational therapist with the NCR Home Health Team is truly meaningful because I love what I do. I believe in treating each patient holistically, considering their unique needs and goals to maximize their quality of life. This recognition motivates me to continue providing the highest standard of care and to make a lasting impact on the lives of those I serve.

What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned from working in your field?

One of the greatest joys of being an occupational therapist is witnessing someone regain independence in an area they thought was lost—whether through adaptation, compensatory techniques, or physical strength gains. Every patient presents a unique challenge, and I’ve learned that creativity and collaboration are key. I love collaborating with my colleagues to problem-solve and develop practical solutions that truly improve our patients’ lives.

What guidance or words of wisdom would you share with those who want to follow a similar path to yours?

In home health, one of the most essential skills an occupational therapist can develop is active listening. Our role goes beyond prescribing exercises or interventions—it’s about truly understanding each patient’s priorities and tailoring their plan of care to align with their personal goals. Taking the time to listen fosters trust, improves outcomes, and ensures that our care is both meaningful and effective. For those entering this field, my advice is to stay adaptable, practice patience, and lead with empathy. This career is deeply rewarding, and the impact you make can change lives in ways both big and small.

How generative AI in healthcare is being used today

Healthcare leaders are exploring generative AI with a mix of curiosity, urgency, and caution. Technology is advancing quickly, but healthcare organizations operate in one of the most regulated and complex environments in any industry. That combination means adoption tends to happen carefully.
