What leaders have to say about Kola: Received an email directly from one of his patients….
“Good day! My name is Debra *last name redacted*. I have been a patient/client with Kola for some time now. I just wanted you to be aware of what a great employee he has been for your organization. I am a very large lady with mobility issues from a very compromised back. Kola came in and got me walking with a walker further than I thought was possible again and he also helped me in jumping the many hoops and ringing bells in acquiring a power wheelchair that allows me to join in the many activities at my facility. It has opened my world which was very closed off. I had been declined multiple times before and with his encouragement and boost in believing in myself I was able to get one. He was also a very good therapist who I felt was like a good friend but could be tough when i needed it. He encouraged and praised when i needed a boost and also was very courteous. He kept me informed with times for our sessions and upcoming sessions also, which i appreciated greatly. I consider him a good person and i hope your organization values him. I am lucky to have met him. Thank you so much for your time. Debra Wysk” What does being a Gold Standard Award honoree mean to you? Winning the Gold Standard Award validates the professionalism and precision i bring to our agency. Im extremity honored because it indicates I’m a leader in clinical quality and compliance.
What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned from working in your field?
I have learned that working with patients in the home setting gives me a profound sense of purpose. Being able to help a patient safely navigate something as simple yet critical as a 2 a.m. bathroom transfer brings an immense sense of duty and responsibility. Contributing directly to a patient’s safety within their own home environment is truly priceless. Furthermore, documentation in HCHB is not merely paperwork. It is a reflection of clinical reasoning, a legal safeguard, and a professional responsibility. Completing documentation thoroughly provides a sense of fulfillment, knowing that I have accurately captured the care provided and upheld my duty and obligations as a clinician.
What guidance or words of wisdom would you share with those who want to follow a similar path to yours?
I’ll advice them to master their craft and never forget the human behind the diagnosis, their needs to be safe and secure at home. Do all documentation like it’ll be audited and with 100% efforts.
