Lisa Guffey

PTA | Quality Home Health

DECEMBER 2025

What leaders have to say about Lisa:

Today I am nominating Lisa Guffey PTA for the Gold Standard Award. Lisa has been with Quality Home Health since 2002. She exhibits excellent customer service, shows compassion, honesty, passion and treats her clients with respect and dignity. A particular patient called in and I quote, saying “I’ll never forget what she did for me”. This patient was able to drive himself to the office and came in without any assistive device after receiving quality care from Lisa. He teared up when he described what all she did for him. He went on to say that Lisa knew exactly how to handle him. She taught him and his wife how to transfer in and out of the shower. He was a former retired health care provider himself and could not say enough great things about Lisa. Lisa exhibits team work every day in her job, her primary location is in the Byrdstown branch, but she frequently travels to our many branches to see patients outside of her normal assignment. In her spare time, she has a ministry at her church where she sews lap quilts for patients at the nursing home. She also loves to garden and when fresh produce is available, she shares that with her clients. She truly has a calling for physical therapy, and her job and patients call and request her by name. We could not be prouder at Quality Home Health to nominate Lisa Guffey for such a prestigious award.

What does being a Gold Standard Award honoree mean to you?

Being named a Gold Standard Award honoree is an incredible honor that reflects what I love most about being a PTA – caring for the elderly and helping them maintain their independence, comfort, and dignity at home. Each patient I work with has a story, and being trusted to be part of their care means a lot to me. This recognition reminds me of why I chose this profession – to make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time.

What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned from working in your field?

The most valuable lesson that I have learned from working as a PTA in home health is that every patient has something to offer. The patients are a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I have learned useful life skills and more importantly, lessons on how to be a better mother, wife, friend, and community member. Receiving this knowledge over the years has made a powerful and positive influence on my life.

What guidance or words of wisdom would you share with those who want to follow a similar path to yours?

I would urge anyone employed in the home health field to take time to listen and learn from your patients. Yes, we are in the home to provide a service but part of that is respecting each person and understanding that they, in turn, have something to give. Allowing the patient to share wisdom or knowledge reinforces that the patient is valuable regardless of their ability level. And it makes for the most successful recovery!

How generative AI in healthcare is being used today

Healthcare leaders are exploring generative AI with a mix of curiosity, urgency, and caution. Technology is advancing quickly, but healthcare organizations operate in one of the most regulated and complex environments in any industry. That combination means adoption tends to happen carefully.
