Encompass Health Prepares for Enhabit Home Health & Hospice Spinoff

Encompass Health plans to complete the Enhabit Home Health & Hospice spin off on July 1, 2022. The organization has been able to retain its senior executive team, add key positions and work on additional staffing models to tackle the workforce challenges facing the entire industry. Enhabit’s position as an independent company is expected to benefit the current home health and hospice team by providing enhanced management focus, separate capital structures and allocation of financial resources. Choice Health at Home Acquires New Locations

Choice Health at Home is acquiring new locations in Dallas and San Antonio TX from Abiding Home Health. Last year, choice health at home completed 9 transactions in Texas and Oklahoma. The company plans to grow throughout the Southwest region and build out its four service lines in as many areas as possible. Read the rest of the article here.

Compassus Rolls out New App

Compassus is rolling out the use of the Empathy app to the families they serve across the country to help overcome the logistical challenges that grieving families often face. The app will augment the company’s existing bereavement support efforts. Administrative tasks related to a loved one’s death take hundreds of hours over an extended period of time. Amedisys Expands Through Acquisitions

Amedisys acquired Evolution Health and home health assets from AssistedCare Home Health and AssistedCare of the Carolinas. Evolution Health is made up of 15 locations across three states. The move allows Amedisys to offer ​“more comprehensive care in more communities across Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio.” The AssistedCare acquisition strengthens Amedisys’ hospice presence in North Carolina. Amedisys is taking advantage of opportunities to provide higher-acuity care in the home through M&A and JV strategies. Amedisys operates out of 549 care centers in 38 states and the District of Columbia and services over 445,000 patients each year. The company’s acquisition of Contessa Health in 2021 has fueled some of these efforts. Read the rest of the article here.

Nick Muscato is being promoted to chief strategy officer for Amedisys. His previous role as senior vice president of finance included the management of investor relations and has been credited with a ​“unique ability to forecast the future of our industry”.

Addus HomeCare Corporation Hires New EVP

Cliff Blessing has been hired as the new EVP and chief development officer for Addus HomeCare Corporation. Blessing’s previously held the EVP of corporate development position at Encompass Health’s Home Health and Hospice division. He will be leading an ambitious M&A strategy as the company works to expand its home health and hospice offerings across the country. Read the rest of the article here.

The LHC Group Proposed Purchase by Optum

Optum further commented on the pending deal to purchase The LHC Group. The company is working to provide quality care in the settings that make the most sense for their patients. The LHC Group acquisition will allow the organization to deliver care and support in the home as well as traditional and ambulatory settings. Read the rest of the article here.

Humana Sells Stake in Kindred Health at Home’s Hospice and Personal Care Segment

Last year Humana purchased the remaining 60% stake in Kindred Health at Home from WCAS and TPG Capital. After the purchase was completed, the company announced its interest in selling the Hospice segment of Kindred. Humana has now signed an agreement to sell 60% of the hospice and personal care division to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CDR). Read the full article here.

Humana shared its progress towards the development of the company’s health care service capabilities and the intersection between onehome and Kindred Health at Home that will allow more MA members to receive care in their homes. Aveanna Healthcare Holdings Inc. Launching New Training Program

Aveanna Healthcare Holdings Inc. is working with the state of Arizona to leverage family caregivers to help address the workforce shortages in homecare. Aveanna will train parents and other relatives of those requiring home-based care to become licensed Health Aides (LHAs). After training, they will be paid as Aveanna employees. HCR Home Care Announces New President

HCR Home Care announced that Suzanne Turchetti will assume the role of president of the company, leading non-clinical administrative operations. Suzanne has been with HCR since 2005 and has been an integral part of the team as she rose up through the ranks. Read the full article here.

During his session, Montiel touched on his journey over the past two years after acquiring SilverStone Hospice just weeks before the start of the pandemic.
