What is productivity data and why is it changing?

Businesses have always sought ways to capture data that shines a light on what work is being done, the quality of work, progress towards goals etc. In healthcare, the use of this data has shifted dramatically within the past few years. Rather than simply using productivity data to create benchmarks for performance, agencies are diving into this data to figure out ways to decrease care fatigue and improve caregiver satisfaction.

Trustbridge Hospice partners with Homecare Homebase to gather the information needed to have conversations with their caregivers about ways the company can improve and is taking additional steps outside of technology changes to protect the mental and physical well-being of its staff. The need for organizations to focus on caregiver satisfaction has been growing in intensity since before the pandemic and rocked to the forefront once COVID-19 gripped the nation. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) reported that in 2020 approximately 80,000 nurses left the workforce.

Using analytics to address caregiver satisfaction

Homecare Homebase was determined to give our clients tools to proactively address caregiver satisfaction and began developing dashboards in HCHB Analytics that allow our customers to assess clinician satisfaction, caregiver optimization, field capacity and more. The Clinician Satisfaction dashboard quickly became one of HCHB’s most popular stock analytics resources. The dashboard dives into common causes of care fatigue and helps agencies use productivity data to identify clinicians that may need additional support. The dashboard compiles data and generates a potential satisfaction score that accounts for common factors that lead to burnout. Some of these metrics include:

  • After hours visits
  • Daily documentation hours
  • Daily drive hours
  • Weekly caseload
