LHC Group, SLCC Team Up to Train Nurses to Meet the Rising Need for Home Health Care

As the population ages across the state and the country, the need for home health care — already in demand — is going to grow. That's why Lafayette-based LHC Group is partnering with South Louisiana Community College Campus to train nursing students in the home health field. They've opened a home health lab on the Lafayette campus, a result of discussions by both agencies about creating a space resembling a residential environment, that will allow nursing students to gain hands-on experience in the home health setting during training. It recreates a residential bedroom, living room and bathroom area where nursing students can practice skills in a home health environment.
